Gachagua - My sons urged me not to support Ruto for Presidency

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua revealed that before the 2022 general elections, his two sons urged him to withdraw support for President William Ruto.

Speaking in Bomet on Sunday, Gachagua explained that their concern arose due to the challenges he faced for backing Ruto's presidential candidacy against the wishes of the sitting president.

"When we supported President William Ruto's bid, we faced numerous challenges and opposition from the government in power," Gachagua recounted.

"My sons witnessed the difficulties I encountered and feared it could jeopardize our family and assets."

He mentioned that his sons, together with their mother Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, convened a meeting to express their concerns about the potential harm to their family caused by his political stance.

"At that meeting, my sons voiced their fears that my political alignment could harm our family and lead to loss of property," Gachagua continued.

"I presented my arguments in favour of supporting Ruto, and with the support of my wife, we took a vote. The decision was evenly split, but as the head of the household, I made the final call that we stand with President William Ruto."

Gachagua shared these reflections after attending a church service at Deliverance Church International in Kaplong, Bomet County.
