United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala has fired a stern warning against some of the party's prominent leaders over what he has fiercely called a "blatant disrespect to the party leadership".

Upon his return from China alongside a UDA delegation on Wednesday, Malala noted that he is privy to a growing pattern of indiscipline within the party which has even been directed to President William Ruto.

Malala specifically cited the public sentiments made by Githunguri MP Gathoni Wa Muchomba, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga. 

"Your recent conduct not only undermines the party's unity but also disrespects the leadership that you pledged to serve," said Malala.

"Let this be a stern warning: desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behaviour persist, the party will take disciplinary action against you."

He likewise cracked the whip on Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and his Roads and Transport counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen for "involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical."

Malala fired at CS Kuria telling him to strictly operate within the confines of his constitutional mandate to serve the people and "should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign and join the political arena."

Similarly, he told CS Murkomen to focus on addressing the pressing issues in his ministry, particularly the reclamation of roads damaged by recent floods or else resign and fully join the political arena. 

"Furthermore, I urge the young politicians within the UDA who have prematurely begun their campaigns for 2032 to halt these activities. Your current mandate is to serve your constituents," he added.

This comes after a week-long tussle between leaders in the ruling party after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was rumoured to be losing his political bromance with President Ruto.

Speculations claimed that there exists cracks within the ruling regime, forcing Gachagua to stamp his foot and iron out the conundrum.

During an event in Uasin Gishu County, an enraged Gachagua warned that he would not allow a section of the president's allies to harm his relationship with his boss and that they should also refrain from meddling in the political affairs of the Mt. Kenya region.

He added that President Ruto's allies working against him are now proud and warned them to look back on how the Mt. Kenya region supported President Ruto's presidential bid.

“The few people here wamefura wamekuwa na kiburi nyingi, wanafikiria ati sasa wamefika wanaweza kuja huko eti wapange viongozi wa mlima, ata sisi hatutakuja kuwapangia siasa yenu, lazima tuheshimiane,” he added.

The DP further told the unnamed Rift Valley leaders to keep off the Central region politics, saying the country should not be subjected to early politicking.

“Msijaribu kutupangia siasa ya mlima Kenya na uongozi wa mlima Kenya. Pangeni siasa zenu na uongozi wenu. Siku William Ruto atastaafu after 10 years, hatutaingililia vile mnataka kupanga, mtajipangia wenyewe. Siasa ya huko kwetu hamuwezani nayo, ni ngumu sana,” Gachagua noted.

Amid the melee, MP Sudi fired back at Gachagua saying that leaders should shun divisive and tribal politics, and at the same time uphold respect.

Sudi particularly pointed out at the meeting held by Gachagua to which he responded with a hidden defiance, noting that his political movements cannot be tamed.

"You cannot control where I go. If we all stayed in our respective constituencies then we would not be in government. We had to fly all over the country to ask Kenyans to elect this government. I am not someone you can threaten. I have been threatened enough and this does not move me," Sudi responded. 

He said he will continue to hold Harambees to fundraise for churches, as he inherited this from Ruto when he was deputy president.

"You know I got this thing from Ruto. He passed it to me because now he is concentrating on national matters. So I have to continue doing this in any part of the country," Sudi added.
