Kenya’s Under 20 rugby team captain, Edmund Omondi, says the team will be putting in the maximum effort to end their World Rugby Under 20 trophy campaign with a win after losing all three pool games.
Chipu, as they are popularly known, lost 25-7 to Uruguay, 51-3 to Netherlands and 30-17 to USA and Omondi says the team has a chance to redeem themselves as they face Hong Kong in the 7th place final.
“Hong Kong is our last match here in Scotland and a game that we plan to redeem ourselves with because we’ve had a not-so-good performance but from the first game, there has been improvement.

“Hong Kong is our last match here in Scotland and a game that we plan to redeem ourselves with because we’ve had a not-so-good performance but from the first game, there has been improvement.
This being our last game, we are hopeful we will show what the boys have been working on it, and the boys will give 100% because its our last game; so, we are going all out to try redeem our names and show what Kenya is all about because we know we are better than what we’ve been doing and how we’ve been performing.”
With Hong Kong having lost all their group matches as well, this will be a battle of pride and Omondi hopes Kenya comes out on top.
“We are hopeful for a win, the game will be hard because Hong Kong have also lost all their games but our spirits are high because we want to get back home with a win which we are hopeful to get.”
Hong Kong suffered one of heaviest defeats of the tournament, having lost 105-20 to Japan in their opening game and followed that up with a 101-0 defeat to Scotland.
Kenya and Hong Kong collide at the Hive Stadium, Edinburgh, Scotland at 1345hrs local time.
