Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah unveils the committee behind his 2027 presidential bid

Busia Senator and Activist Okiya Omtatah has officially launched his presidential exploratory mission by establishing a 10-member committee to assess his viability to run for President in 2027.

The committee, led by Mary Kathomi and composed of political strategists, activists, and legal experts, will conduct nationwide opinion polls to gauge Omtatah’s popularity, assess his chances of securing the presidency and gather insights on his appeal while strategizing ways to outmanoeuvre potential opponents in the political landscape.

Omtatah is confident in his mission to unseat President William Ruto, whom he accuses of failing the country. He has since urged Kenyans to rally behind him as the alternative against the Kenya Kwanza Government.

"My focus is not going to be diminished... I know there is a fight to dislodge President William Ruto and I am ready," said Omtatah.

"We're confident Omtatah is the right person for the job, but we want to hear from Kenyans themselves as we move forward—across every constituency," Julius Okara, the committee's patron, added.

Gen-Z activist Hanifa Farsafi, who is also part of the committee as a Public Relations Strategist, has backed Omtatah’s bid, sparking a new conversation about Gen-Z's political inclinations.

"What Omtatah stands for is exactly what we stand for. His values resonate with us, and we believe in his principles," Farsafi said.

Omtatah is optimistic that Kenyans will financially support his campaign to dislodge the Kenya Kwanza government in the long run.

“People keep talking about money, but Kenyans have already shown their goodwill. We will get the support we need as we continue," he said.

A first-time senator and longtime activist, Omtatah has been relentless in his criticism of the current administration and is now positioning himself as the alternative.
