Bidco Africa has launched Gental Care Pant Diapers a move marking Bidco’s expansion from its traditional edible oils expertise into a market dominated by imported brands.
In a statement on 17 July 2024, Bidco’s research into the Kenyan diaper market, currently featuring over 10 international brands, revealed a growing preference for pant diapers over tape diapers, which hold 80% of the market share.
This trend towards convenience and comfort in diaper usage has been a key motivator for Bidco’s new venture.
“Diapers are indispensable in a child’s formative years, and Gental Care Pant Diapers aim to empower our babies to be ‘The Unstoppable’,” said Vimal Shah, CEO of Bidco Africa.
Bidco Market Research
A critical finding from Bidco’s market research highlighted a significant gap in accessible diaper care information for mothers.
A common misconception regarding the removal of pant diapers pointed to a broader need for educational initiatives within the market.
“One poignant insight uncovered by their team highlights the common misconception among mothers regarding the removal of pant diapers, indicative of the need for educational initiatives within the market,” part of the statement read.
In response, Bidco is positioning Gental Care Pant Diapers as a premium-quality product offered at an accessible price.
Create Employment
The company plans to establish a manufacturing facility in Kenya, emphasizing local production and leveraging their unique insights into maternal needs.
“Bidco plans to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kenya, with a commitment to employing over 50% women,” the statement further read.
Bidco’s entry into the baby care sector extends beyond product innovation.
The company envisions a community-centric approach to maternal and child wellness, addressing crucial topics such as vaccination protocols, essential motherhood guidelines, and comprehensive diaper care practices.
Bidco further invites stakeholders to witness a transformative journey in the baby care sector, promising both innovation and community impact.
Affordability without compromising quality is a cornerstone of Bidco’s strategy.
The launch of Gental Care Pant Diapers has already begun to influence competitive pricing strategies among existing imported brands, making diapers more accessible for Kenyan consumers.
