Here are some of the top exclusive membership clubs that Nairobi has to offer should you be looking to join the world of the elite.

 

1. Muthaiga Country Club

Nestled in one of the most expensive suburbs in the city, Muthaiga Country Club promises a world-class experience to all its patrons.

 

It has an 18-hole golf course designed by the one and only Peter Matkovich, that has been voted the ‘best golf course in Kenya’, not once, not twice but 3 times.

Requirements: To become a member, one needs to be proposed by a current member of good standing and who has been a member for not less than 3 years. Membership fees range from Ksh 660,000 depending on the membership package one applies for.

Located in the heart of Karen, Karen Country Club is one of the few clubs I have been to that ‘just feel like home’.

 

With a challenging, lush green 18-hole golf course dotted with water features, the club is home to over 800 golf enthusiasts and 4000 members.

Requirements: The club has a very meticulous joining process where one has to be proposed by both a ‘proposer’ and a ‘seconder’. After that, an inquiry and a ballot is held only after which can be permitted to join the club.

 

Membership fees range from Ksh 650,000 for club entry only and Ksh 800,000 for both club and golf entry.
