Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked the ODM party leaders to support government projects.
Gachagua said now that ODM has some of their members in government, they have no option but to support the Kenya Kwanza administration's agenda.
Previously, ODM, an affiliate of the Azimio Coalition, had been at the forefront of criticising various government projects
President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga joined to form a broad-based government, where Ruto appointed four ODM leaders to his cabinet.
While speaking in Mombasa on Thursday, Gachagua said that once you are in government, you are obligated to support whatever the administration proposes.
"Rais wetu William Ruto aliunda serikali ya kila mtu hapa Pwani mkafaidika sana, mkapata waziri Salim Mvurya na Hassan Joho. Sasa wale watu mlikuwa kwa ODM mko ndani ya serikali, yale mambo nasema hapa muunge mkono, hiyo ndio kazi ya kuwa kwa serikali. Huwa inakuwa hivyo. Yale mambo nasema hapa muunge mkono," Gachagua said.
Ruto appointed ODM's former deputy party leaders, Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya, national chairman John Mbadi, and former National Assembly Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi, to his cabinet.
Joho was appointed the CS for the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs; Mbadi (National Treasury), Oparanya(Cooperatives and MSME Development) while Wandayi was appointed the CS Energy and Petroleum.
Raila Odinga has on several occasions affirmed that they agreed to form a broad-based government and not a coalition.
The DP on Thursday opened the Mombasa International Show on behalf of President William Ruto.
Gachagua said it was exhilarating to interact with the exhibitors from across the country.
"As we have made major strides in the coffee, tea, and dairy subsectors, we lay a strong focus on the macadamia farmer for better returns and with dignity," he said.
"We continue to strengthen our agriculture sector towards sustainability in driving our economy. This is through fully unlocking the potential of the key sub-sectors."
