Kenya Kwanza Not to Blame: Mbadi Says Economic Challenges Occurred During Uhuru Tenure

The Cabinet Secretary for Treasury John Mbadi has told off people criticizing president William Ruto’s regime saying that they should point out what did not happen during the previous regime.

Mbadi, who was speaking in Suna West Sub on Sunday, said Kenya is in better state now compared to where it was during the previous regime led by former president Uhuru Kenyatta.

"What is it that is going so bad that did not happen during Uhuru Kenyatta's tenure?" Mbadi posed.

He said some of the critics are baseless allegations, asserting that Kenya Kwanza is committed to making the country better.

Mbadi said he has not heard sectors like tea, coffee among other crying of inadequate funding because the government has funded the sectors well yet the leaders from regions like Central Kenyans are still claiming that the government is not working.

The CS said it’s the first time that counties have received the full disbursement for the financial year 2024/2025 adding that other arrears owed to counties have also been paid full.

"In the entire Uhuru presidency, we had not been transferring money to counties. This year we released all the allocations including arrears we carried forward in 2023/24," said Mbadi.

He said the counties have also got additional funds in sharable revenue and indication that the Kenya Kwanza government is committed.

Mbadi added that all the constituencies have also got the full disbursement of CDF for the financial years 2024/2025 which had not been happening for almost ten years.
