Kenyan rapper Stevo Simple Boy has openly criticised the recently released collaborative tracks by Bahati and Willy Paul, claiming the songs lack depth and meaningful content.
The two artists, who have been embroiled in a long-standing feud, surprised fans by dropping two new songs, Paah and Keki, on January 31, signalling the end of their bitter rivalry.
In an interview with Mideyah Media, Stevo expressed his disappointment with the tracks, stating that they lacked substance and were created merely for the sake of releasing music.
"The songs didn’t impress me. They don’t have the depth we’ve come to expect from Bahati and Willy Paul. The videos are great, but there’s no meaningful message," he said.
Stevo stated he would not consider collaborating with either artist unless they reworked their music to include more purposeful content.
The two tracks, Paah and Keki, were released as a symbol of reconciliation between the artists, who had been publicly feuding for years.
Paah, an upbeat, high-energy track, highlights their vocal chemistry and has quickly climbed the charts.
On the other hand, Keki is a more reflective song, delivering a message of unity and forgiveness, which resonated deeply with fans.
The reconciliation between Bahati and Willy Paul has been met with widespread celebration from their supporters.
Fans took to social media to express their joy over the end of the feud, praising the duo for their maturity and musical talents.
Bahati, in a statement, declared, "We’ve ruled the industry for ten years, but this is just the beginning of a new era."
Willy Paul echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing their shared journey from humble beginnings in Mathare Slums to becoming industry heavyweights.
The feud, which had played out on social media for years, often left fans divided.
However, the artists’ decision to bury the hatchet and collaborate has been hailed as a positive step forward.
Bahati publicly accepted Willy Paul’s apology late last year, stating, "We’ve all made mistakes, but what matters is correcting them. Our God is a God of love and second chances."
Willy Paul also expressed hope that their families could come together, especially for the sake of their children.
Despite the criticism from Stevo Simple Boy, the songs have garnered significant attention online, with fans applauding the artists for their renewed partnership and musical growth.
