Alikiba is currently in Kenya, stirring up excitement ahead of his much-anticipated "One Night Only" concert. The event is scheduled for this Sunday, 31 May, at the Sarit Expo Centre.
During a brief break from his rehearsals, the "Aje" hitmaker engaged in a rapid-fire interview with Kalondu Musyimi, where he traded talk of chart-toppers for tales of his dinner plate.
The King’s Kitchen: Hits and Misses
When it comes to food, Alikiba remains true to his East African roots. When asked about his favourite meal, the singer did not hesitate, choosing a classic combination.
"Napenda ugali na nyama choma," he revealed, confirming his love for the staple maize meal and grilled meat.
However, the star is much more selective when it comes to vegetables. Alikiba expressed a strong dislike for "Malenge," a Swahili name for pumpkin mash.
While he didn't go into a lengthy scientific explanation, he made it clear that it is one dish that will not be appearing on his menu anytime soon, simply stating he does not like it at all.
Interestingly, while he avoids certain dishes, he is comfortable in the kitchen. He shared that he enjoys cooking, with "wali" (rice) being his current go-to dish to prepare.
Life Away from the Mic
The interview also touched on the singer’s personal habits and background. Despite his global fame, Alikiba’s first and only job has been music. His school days were a mix of interests; he enjoyed Biology but had a firm distaste for bookkeeping.
Off-stage, Alikiba is a dedicated supporter of Liverpool FC. His daily routine is far from the typical "early bird" lifestyle. He revealed that he stays up very late and rarely wakes up early in the morning.

The first thing he does upon waking is simply "opening his eyes," and his nightly routine always ends with brushing his teeth.
Magic at the Sarit Expo Centre
The star's visit to Nairobi is centred on the "One Night Only" showcase. Alikiba—born Ali Saleh Kiba—has been a dominant force in African music for nearly two decades. This concert marks a premium moment for his Kenyan fans, who have followed his journey from his debut hit "Cinderella" to his latest tracks.
Fans can expect a high-energy performance. "Magic, fresh... beautiful vibe," Alikiba promised when asked what to expect this Sunday.
“My fans should expect magic on One Night Only performance. Kuwafurahisha watu with beautiful vibe and moments. Natamani kuona they are happy wakitoka pale na kusema, ‘Alikiba unatosha’, that’s it,” he said.
He will not be alone on stage; the lineup features international jazz maestro Kirk Whalum, American R&B singer Karyn White, and Kenya’s very own Bien.
