Quickmart supermarket celebrates its 18th anniversary in style

Quickmart supermarket has celebrated its 18th anniversary in a ceremony marked with style and themes of colour red and black.

In the celebration held on Friday at its Kilimani branch, the Chief Marketing Officer Betty Wamaitha noted that their biggest milestone is becoming the second largest retailer.

She added that being an opportunity for employment for Kenyans is also an achievement that they have realised.

Wamaitha stated that their customer service has improved over the years, incorporating training to achieve the same.

"Customer is king and customer services are the heart of everything that we do. So we train our staff continuously to afford the customer exceptional service in our store," she said.

They have also partnered with Glovo and Uber Eats to serve their customers more conveniently.

She also noted that they have 26 stores that run around the clock, ensuring that customers can grab a quick meal or quick shopping anytime around them.

Quickmart also celebrates Kilimo Shuleni, a corporate social responsibility project which is onboarded in a school in Kajiado.

"We have set up a school farm, 5 acres and we have taught the community how to farm. We did our first harvest. For us it's about sustainable community engagement," Wamaitha said.

She said they plan to expand the project to other schools that face the challenge of drought.

Quickmart is also verging towards the e-commerce space.

Wamaitha revealed that they are launching the e-commerce mobile platform, Q-Soko soon.

The supermarket was first established in 2006 in Nakuru City with the need to serve the residents of the area with convenience.

It then moved to Ruiru then in 2019 established a Ruaka branch.

In 2020, the supermarket established a Lavington branch under the name "Quickmart: Fresh and Easy".

It merged with Tumaini supermarket and established more branches in Nairobi, Nakuru and Kiambu.

At the time, the supermarket has 60 branches across 16 counties being the second largest retailer in the country. It has over 7,300 workforce.

Under its Fresh and Easy logo, Quickmart promotes at least 14,000 farmers in the country by purchasing fresh farm produce.
