Nairobi county receives the biggest allocation of ksh 400 billion to be shared among counties

Nairobi County will receive the biggest allocation of the Ksh.400 billion that is to be shared among counties in the revenue sharing scheme.

According to the County Allocation of Revenue Act (CARA), Nairobi County is scheduled to receive Ksh.20.8 billion.

CARA, which distributes the money to counties, stated that Nakuru will get the second highest allocation of Ksh.14.1 billion.

Counties received improved allocation after the Senate and the National Assembly negotiated and agreed to increase theallocation from Ksh.391 billion to Ksh.400 billion.

Turkana County, under Governor Jeremiah Lomorkai, will receive Ksh.13.6 billion, Fernandes Barasa’s Kakamega will pocket Ksh.13.4 billion, while Kimani Wamatangi’s Kiambu County will get Ksh.12.7 billion.

Governor Gideon Mungaro of the Coastal county of Kilifi will in the 2024/25 financial year will receive Sh12.5billion, Mandera headed by Governor Mohamed Khalif will receive Sh12billion, Ken Lusaka (Bungoma) will get Sh11.5billion while Julius Malombe (Kitui) will receive Sh11.2billion respectively.

Meru and Wajir counties will each control Ksh.10.2 billion, while Machakos will get Ksh.9.9 billion, Kisii (Ksh.9.6 billion), Narok (Ksh.9.5 billion), Kwale (Ksh.8.88 billion), Uasin Gishu (Ksh.8.766 billion), and Makueni is expected to receive Ksh.8.762 billion.

Kisumu will receive Ksh.8.68 billion, Migori (Ksh.8.66 billion), Garissa (Ksh.8.55 billion), Homa Bay (Ksh.8.4 billion), Marsabit (Ksh.7.8 billion), Trans Nzoia (Ksh.7.79 billion), Murang’a (Ksh.7.7 billion), and Busia (Ksh.7.76 billion).

Other allocations were as follows; Nandi (Ksh.7.6 billion), Siaya (Ksh.7.5 billion), Tana River (Ksh.7.04 billion), Kericho (Ksh.6.96 billion), Baringo (Ksh.6.91 billion), West Pokot (Ksh.6.8 billion), Nyeri (Ksh.6.7 billion), and Nyandarua (Ksh.6.1 billion).

Samburu will control a budget of Ksh.5.8 billion, Kirinyaga (Ksh.5.6 billion), Laikipia (Ksh. 5.56 billion), Embu (Ksh.5.54 billion), Vihiga (Ksh.5.45 billion), Nyamira (Ksh.5.52 billion), and Taita Taveta (Ksh.5.22 billion).

Elgeyo Marakwet will receive (Ksh.4.9 billion), Tharaka Nithi (Ksh.4.5 billion), and Lamu will receive the least amount at Ksh.3.36 billion in the 2024/25 financial year.
