Silver Box, a business investment and technology firm based in the Middle East, has acquired Mobius Motors Kenya, Kenya’s first motor vehicle manufacturing company. The acquisition comes as Mobius seeks to stabilize and expand its operations after years of investment in the Kenyan automotive industry.

Mobius Motors, founded 14 years ago with an estimated investment of KES 5 billion, has faced challenges in scaling production and maintaining market competitiveness. Silver Box has announced plans to resume full manufacturing operations by July 2025 for the Mobius 3 Model, with a new off-road SUV expected to launch in December 2025. The company has also reopened its service center.

Leadership Changes at Mobius Motors Kenya

Following the acquisition, John Kavila has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Kavila, who has experience in manufacturing, operations, and customer service, will oversee the company’s strategic direction. He takes over from outgoing CEO Nicolas Guibert, who expressed confidence that Silver Box’s involvement would help expand the brand’s market share, introduce new models, and improve service networks.

Guibert, who led the company for five years, stated that Mobius Motors had struggled with scaling production and expanding beyond its existing customer base. He said he was optimistic that the new ownership would address these challenges.

Mobius Motors has had a presence in Kenya’s automotive sector as one of the few companies manufacturing vehicles locally. With Silver Box now in control, the company’s future direction will depend on how effectively the new leadership executes its plans to enhance production and market expansion.
