Alcohol manufacturer Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) has launched the Namibian premium beer brand Windhoek in Kenya.
Established in 1920, Windhoek Beer is billed as a top brew with only natural ingredients and no additives or artificial ingredients.
The beverage, which has previously entered Kenya under different distributors, seeks to take on other premium and craft beers in the local market which has attracted several players in the past five years.
“Kenya’s beer lovers are becoming more discerning, and Windhoek’s commitment to purity and quality aligns perfectly with this growing demand,” KWAL’s Managing Director Lina Githuka said.
According to Githuka, the launch is part of an ongoing expansion by KWAL to add world-class offerings across multiple categories to its portfolio.
“At KWAL, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional beverages for every occasion, whether it’s beer, wine, spirits, or ciders. Windhoek Beer is a perfect addition, reinforcing our leadership in the market and providing Kenyan consumers with even more high-quality choices,” she added
Jonas Geeraerts, Commercial Director at KWAL, noted a growing demand for premium beers in Kenya.
“There’s a noticeable shift in consumer preferences in Kenya, with a growing appreciation for authentic, high-quality beers. Windhoek Beer, with its rich heritage and superior craftsmanship, is poised to capture the attention of Kenyan beer enthusiasts,” said Geeraerts.
Windhoek adds to KWAL’s local portfolio of ciders, wine and spirits, which includes County, Kibao, Hunter’s Choice, Savanna Cider, Kingfisher, and Amarula.
KWAL became part of the Dutch beer Heineken in 2023 following the acquisition of Distell, its majority shareholder.
Windhoek was first introduced in the Kenyan market in 2010 under a partnership with East African Breweries Limited (EABL).
It later returned through a partnership with Kenyan distributor Kapari Limited.
