Elijah Julius Obebo has been sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Kisii County to replace Robert Monda who was impeached.
The ceremony took place at the Gusii Stadium, where Obebo took the oath of office to deputise Kisii Governor Simba Arati.
Obebo who previously served as the County Public Service Board Chair, expressed his gratitude and outlined his commitment to the county's future.
In his inaugural address, Deputy Governor Obebo said accepted his appointment and consequent swearing-in.
"I accept the appointment as the Deputy Governor of Kisii County government. Your Excellency, let me begin by thanking the Almighty God for making this day possible," Obebo said amid cheers from the crowd.
His appointment marks a notable transition in Kisii County's administration after months of operations without a deputy governor.
He extended heartfelt thanks to the Governor for the trust placed in him, assuring him of his loyalty.
"I thank you for finding me suitable to be your principal assistant and your confidant. As I take charge of this confidence you have bestowed on me, I promise to undertake and be your loyal lieutenant," an overjoyed new deputy governor said.
Obebo emphasized that his journey is a testament to what can be achieved through dedication and integrity. "This is a testament that any child can become whatever they want with hard work, integrity, and resilience," he affirmed.
Looking ahead, Deputy Governor Obebo reiterated his commitment to the Governor's vision for Kisii County.
"I reiterate my commitment, dedication, and goodwill to deliver all your manifesto and vision for a great Kisii County," he pledged.
Highlighting a key aspect of their administration, he added, "I particularly resonate very well with your stance on zero tolerance to corruption and poor use of public resources. This is the promise of freedom that the people of Kisii have been waiting for."
The new Deputy Governor also paid tribute to his family, acknowledging their unwavering support throughout his journey.
"I thank my wife Margaret and our children who have been great pillars in their steadfast love up to this point. From the humble beginnings of Nyamasiro village all through to the county government and now to be your loyal deputy," he reflected.
