Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has opened up about her personal lifestyle choices, revealing a strict rule she follows when it comes to alcohol consumption.
In a TikTok post on Thursday, June 4, 2026, Passaris shared reflections on smoking, drinking, and health habits, offering insight into her personal discipline and family background.
Passaris revealed that she follows a simple but firm rule when it comes to alcohol.
“I have a rule. One tot. Just one tot,” she said, explaining that she prefers moderation and avoids excess in drinking.
She added that while she occasionally enjoys drinks such as gin and tonic or margaritas, she always limits herself to a single glass, emphasising balance and self-control.
Views on smoking and health
The politician also spoke about smoking, stating that she does not smoke and dislikes the smell of cigarettes.
She reflected on her family’s history with smoking, noting that while some members of her family smoke, she and her mother never adopted the habit.
Passaris further shared that she believes smoking has negative effects on health and appearance, warning that it can age the body and contribute to long-term health risks.
In the moment, Passaris admitted that she once experimented with substances such as cigarettes and cannabis, but said it was not something she continued.

“I did try a joint once. It wasn’t my thing,” she said, adding that it was more out of curiosity than habit.
Family stories and generational contrast
She also shared a striking personal story involving her grandmother, recalling how she once fulfilled her grandmother’s unusual request for cigarettes even at an advanced age. The anecdote highlighted how attitudes toward smoking varied across generations in her family.
Beyond personal stories, Passaris emphasised a broader message of moderation, advising against excess in both smoking and drinking.
She noted that while some people justify unhealthy habits in different ways, discipline and balance remain important for long-term well-being.
