Government Publishes List of 345 Licensed and Authorized SACCOs in 2025

The Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) has listed 345 Saccos licensed and authorized in Kenya for the financial year ending 31st December 2025.

In a gazette notice dated January 24, SASRA published the names of licensed 178 deposit-taking and 177 non-deposit-taking Sacco businesses.

“Pursuant to section 28 of the Sacco Societies Act (the Act), SASRA publishes for notification of the general public that in accordance with regulation 8 of the Sacco Societies (Deposit-Taking Sacco Business) Regulations, 2010, the 178 Sacco Societies listed in Schedule I herein are duly licensed to carry out deposit-taking business in Kenya as provided in the Act as read with the said Regulations, 2010, for the period commencing 1st January, 2025 to 31st December, 2025,” read the notice in part. 

“In accordance with regulation 6 of the Sacco Societies (Non-Deposit-Taking Business) Regulations, 2020, the 177 Sacco Societies listed in Schedule II herein are duly authorized to undertake the specified non-deposit-taking Sacco business in Kenya as provided in the Act as read with the said Regulations, 2020, for the period commencing 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025. "

SASRA Licenses 178 Deposit-Taking SACCOS

Among notable licensed deposit-taking Saccos are 2NK, Mwalimu National, Ng’arisha, NSSF, Skyline DT, The Kenya Bankers, Acumen DT, Afya, Gusii Mwalimu, Kenya National Police DT, and Stima DT.

Others include Agrochem, Ainabkoi, Airports, Amica, Ammar, Keystone DT, Kimbilio Daima, Apstar DT, Ardhi, Kenversity, Asili, Azima, Kingdom, Kwikas DT, Kimisitu, and Bandari.

Additionally, Baraka, Baraton, Bi-High, Biashara, Biashara Tosha, Bingwa, Boresha, Capital Centenary, Chai, Chuka, and Egerton University Sacco are included in the list.

Additional key players in the category include Chuna, Cosmopolitan, County, Daima, Defence, Dhabiti, Dimkes, Kenya Achievas DT, Dumisha, Eco-Pillar, Kenpipe, Kenya Highlands, Kweru DT, and Edis.

The list also includes Elimu, Enea, Faridi, Fariji, Fortitude, Ufanisi DT, Fortune, Fundilima, GDC, Golden Pillar, Good Faith, Good Hope, Kibiye, Kencream, Kolenge, and Goodway Saccos.

Harambee DT, Hazina, Home Business, Ilkisonko, Imarika, Imarisha, Jamii, Jamii Yetu, Koru DT, Jogoo, Joinas, Jumuika, K-Pillar, K-Unity, and Jitegemee Saccos are also recognized.

Non-Deposit Taking Saccos Authorized

Among the non-deposit taking (WDT)regulated Sacco societies authorized are Law Society of Kenya, HELB, Java, KASNEB, KEMRI, Kenya Medical Association, Kentours, Kenya Rural Roads, Faulu Bank,Ketepa and Postbank.

Other authorized non-WDT Sacco societies include 3N, ABC Empowerment, Accel, ACK Kihara, ACK Thika Talents, Adventist, AIBK, Airlink, Alarms, AMREF, Appollosure, Ballot, Balozi, Bamburi Wananchi, Bands, Banki Kuu, Barabara, and Baraka Yetu.

BAT, Besco, Bestrock, Biblia, Blue Eagle, Braemeg, Brookside, Bunge, Bunista, CDF, CFAO, Christian Entrepreneurs, CIC, Communication, Concorde, Co-operative Bank, Cotts, Davis & Shirtliff, Devco, Dhamini, and Digital Media are also listed.

Furthermore, the list includes Dudu, Eagle’s Eye, Embassava, Energy, EPZA, Equity, Esta, Exams, Family, Farmers Choice, Finnlemm, Forward Travellers, Fugo, Gathers, Global Express, Grain Bulk, Grand Granite Diaspora, and Green Aro Community.

Haco, Heart, Hills, Hyperflora, Irrigation, Jachin,Uokoaji, KAG, Kanisa, Kenya Re, Kiatu, Kico, Kilele, Unifying, Vegpro, Kirungii, Kutafiti, Minet,Wasado, Waskom, Zoghori, uwezo, utafiti, and utabibu non- WDT saccos are licensed.
