Enwealth Foundation Limited has partnered with the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya (EAK) to launch a financial literacy programme for children, combining money management skills with biblical values.

The initiative, dubbed the Biblical Financial Literacy Program for Children, is the first of its kind in Kenya and aims to instill responsible financial habits at an early age.

It will be rolled out through EAK’s national church network of over 50,000 congregations, potentially reaching 10 million members.

The programme comes amid concerns over Kenya’s low savings culture. The World Bank estimates the national savings rate at just 13.7% of GDP — well below the Sub-Saharan Africa average of 17.9%.

An Enwealth Financial Services survey in 2022 found that only 15% of Kenyans save for retirement.

Research shows that early exposure to financial literacy increases the likelihood of budgeting, saving consistently, and avoiding debt in adulthood.

The new curriculum focuses on saving, budgeting, giving, and planning — all delivered through scripture-based teachings and age-appropriate materials.

The programme is expected to launch in the coming months. It will be implemented through Sunday schools, Christian institutions, and children’s ministries affiliated with EAK.

Enwealth said the project reflects its broader mission to equip individuals with tools to thrive economically and spiritually, while EAK described the partnership as a long-term investment in the financial and moral development of Kenya’s future generations.
