The students were afterwards released on police cash bail to allow them to sit the remaining KCSE papers before being charged.
Kisumu Central sub-county Police Commander, Peter Mulai says the decision to release them on cash bail was arrived at after a meeting between the police, their parents, and the school administration.
Mulai says the four will however appear before a court of law upon completing the ongoing examinations to face charges of being in possession of bhang.
Mulai says the boys will also face a separate charge of forcefully breaking into a room where they were busted smoking the bhang after using a master key to gain access.
Mulai says three of the boys are aged 18 while the other is 17.
