3 dead after fatal Moi's bridge accident

Three people have lost their lives after being involved in fatal road accident on the Eldoret-Kitale road on Friday evening.

The accident, which occurred at Moi’s Bridge area in Trans Nzoia County involved a public service vehicle and a boda boda. 

According to witnesses, there was a head on collision between the matatu and the boda boda. It occurred while the matatu was escaping a large pothole. 

Confirming the accident, Cherangany Police Commander Okumu Dullo said investigations shows the matatu driver hit a pothole, which led to him colliding with the boda boda. 

“I would like to urge drivers to be careful this festive season. We appeal to KeRRA to fix the road to avoid such incidences,” Dullo said. 

Elsewhere, one person died on the spot while two others are in critical condition following a grisly accident involving a lorry and two motorcycles at Kapkesosio area along Sigor- Kyokong murram road in Bomet county.

According to Chepalungu sub-county police boss Phanton Analo a boda boda headed towards Sigor general direction was hit from behind by another boda boda boda heading the same direction. The rider lost control and rammed into an incoming Isuzu lorry, killing one on the spot while the rider and another pillion passenger he was carrying sustained serious injuries.

The other Boda speeded off after the incident while the driver of the lorry has been arrested and is currently held at Bomet police station.

The rider who sustained multiple fractures in both legs was admitted at Tenwek Hospital while his passenger who lost two teeth and got body injuries is being attended to at Longisa County referral hospital.
