Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka vows to file a lawsuit to stop JKIA takeover by Adani group

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced plans to file a lawsuit to stop the Kenyan government from awarding a $1.3 billion concession to India's Adani Group.
The deal includes the construction of power transmission lines as well as the expansion of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Kenya's busiest airport.
Kalonzo, speaking at a church service in Kajiado, expressed concern about the deal's secrecy, saying it appears to benefit only a few government officials at the expense of Kenyan taxpayers.
"The government's decision not to make the Adani deal documents public is deeply concerning and reflects dishonesty," Kalonzo said, adding that the opacity of the agreements has made many Kenyans, including himself, nervous about the deal's implications.
Kalonzo also claimed that the Adani concession could result in significant financial losses for the country, claiming that Kenyans stand to lose billions of shillings while only a few individuals profit.
He stated that he intends to go to court on Monday to stop the deal's implementation.
In addition to his legal challenge to the Adani deal, Kalonzo urged the Ministry of Education to reconsider the recently implemented university funding model.
He believes the model will limit many students' access to higher education.
"This funding model has created confusion and could deny many deserving students the opportunity to attend university," he stated.
Kalonzo's criticism adds to the growing opposition to the government's recent agreements with the Adani Group, with several other leaders urging greater transparency and public participation in decision-making.
The court case's outcome could have far-reaching implications for Kenya's energy and education sectors.
