Pastor Ezekiel Finally Pays His Wife's Dowry

Pastor Ezekiel Finally Pays His Wife's Dowry

New Life Prayer Centre founder and head preacher, Pastor Ezekiel Odero, has officially paid the dowry to the family of his long-time wife, Pastor Sarah, in a grand Nyombo ceremony held in Emali, Makueni County.

In a YouTube livestream by his church on Friday, November 14, 2025, Ezekiel is seen arriving in Makueni in a fleet of high-end cars early in the morning, before the ceremonies began at a well-set-up tent next to a huge mansion in the sleepy town.

Ezekiel is seen dressed in his signature white robe, holding a Bible throughout, while his wife, who also ministers alongside him, is clad in her preaching regalia.

The livestream shows the preacher proceeding together with his team to meet Sarah’s family inside a house, where prayers and singing first took place.

After that, they proceeded to the outer tents where guests were seated for the meals.

That’s when family members from both sides began speaking, with Sarah’s family expressing pride at the man of God’s gesture in paying dowry for his wife of over 17 years.

The theme of the celebration is seen as a blend of blue and green, with women matching the colours in elegant dresses.

The event also featured performances from singers from Pastor Ezekiel’s Mavueni church, who performed at multiple moments, including as dignitaries arrived and during the meals.

The ceremony attracted a host of high-profile guests, including former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Kilifi North Member of Parliament Owen Baya, Maximum Miracle Centre preacher Bishop Pius Muiru, and other prominent leaders, all of whom came to witness and celebrate the union.

The occasion comes exactly two years after the Kilifi-based preacher and his wife, Pastor Sarah, made headlines for their candid revelations about marriage and dowry.

During a Sunday service at their New Life Church in Mavueni, Kilifi County, on January 22, 2023, Pastor Sarah opened up about the realities of married life, emphasising that marriage is not perfect and that couples should handle conflicts privately rather than involving third parties.

The mother of three, blessed with a son and two daughters, explained that she and her husband prefer to resolve disagreements in the privacy of their bedroom.

“Whenever we have issues, we sit in the bedroom and solve them just as our parents taught us,” she said.

Addressing the topic of dowry, Pastor Sarah disclosed that her husband had initially paid two goats for her dowry.

She dismissed scrutiny that the dowry was not befitting, stating that a dowry does not guarantee the success of a marriage.

“I have lived with Pastor Ezekiel for 17 years now. He paid two goats for my dowry, which was gifted by a friend. Dowry is not marriage; marriage is about the spirit,” she noted.

Pastor Ezekiel also addressed the congregation regarding dowry, revealing that he planned to pay more livestock but asked his mother-in-law to relocate to a larger piece of land first.

“Do you think I will bring ten cows? I am concerned about the media reporting it. My mother-in-law must relocate first, otherwise there would be disputes with neighbours every day over the cows,” he explained.
