Music producer Magic Enga reveals he shared a bed with his dad due to financial struggles

Amos Njenga Chege aka Magix Enga was raised in a religious family where the financial struggles they faced made him decide to leave home in search of greener pasture.

He left his hometown Nakuru for Nairobi where he was ready to even clean the streets to earn a living.

His humble abode was a room in Nyamakima and mostly he slept without food.

The music producer spent time at the studios of Gidi Kibukosya where he honed his skills.

This motivated him alot. While in Nairobi, he bumped into his father who had found a job with Molo Line.

Amos convinced his dad that it was best if they lived together.

Speaking to Mseto East Africa Magix narrated the terrible living conditions.

"Buda yangu bahati akapata job kuendesha gari molo line. Akapewa keja pia, so nilikuwa naenda nadoze na buda angu, so nalala na yeye kwake, ka keja kadogo kitanda peke yake inatoshea place kadogo," he said.

"You were sharing a bed?" Mzazi Willy Tuva enquired

"Eh" he answered affirmatively.

The two men would frequently get on their knees and pray for the musician's success.

"Nilikuwa naamka usiku naambia mzae nataka tuombe, napiga magoti, Naomba mungu walai wacha kesho ikuwe poa. wacha nifanikiwe," His father was shocked at his strong faith.

His prayers worked. Later he got another breakthrough in a song with Arrow Bwoy 'Digi Digi' and then KRG the Don. They went to Uganda where the duo got an invite to Mauritius. Then King Kaka came into the picture.

Next in line was Otile Brown for the popular song Mapenzi Hisia.

He was never paid for any of these songs that he mastered, as he alleged.

"Unafaa kujiambia huu mtu hayuko poa, unafaa kuona si kuambiwa. Mi ni mtu wa kujituma," he said.

His passion pushed him into producing other popular songs with others like Timmy T Dat and Khaligraph.
