Media personality Oga Obinna has come out addressing several speculations surrounding the passing of former Sailors Gang member and Gengetone artiste popularly known as Shalkido.
Obinna shared his tribute on Monday, 6 October 2025, just before continuing with his show, where he decried several online conspiracy theories suggesting that Shalkido was sacrificed.
“If you go to the social media space, you will see a lot of theories. Personally, I have seen a lot of theories circulating online about Shalkido’s death,” Obinna stated.
“I have seen theories that Shalkido has been sacrificed; I have seen other theories that he has been used; theories that whatever has happened to him has been planned,” he added.
Calls out attention seekers
While addressing the conspiracy theories regarding Shalkido’s death, Obinna called out the people who did not come through for him when he was alive.
“I always like to give people flowers when they are alive; after someone is gone, there is not much you can do…when someone is alive, that is when they need you the most,” Obinna reiterated.
He further advised netizens to reach out to people in need or going through something by supporting them and guiding them while they are still alive.
“Take it upon yourself to reach out to our brothers and sisters who are going through something; try and support them and guide them while they are still here,” Obina said.
Obinna further made it clear that he has no regret about being part of Shalkido’s life.
“Personally, I do not have any regrets from my interaction with Shalkido, and he knows, his family knows, and my team and my family know what we have been trying to do together,” Obina revealed.
“I am grateful to God for giving me an opportunity to be in his life for a very short period of time and trying to impact it positively,” Obina stated.
Shalkido sudden demise
Former Sailors Gang member and Gengetone artiste Kevin Mburu Kinyanju, popularly known as Shalkido, died following a grisly motorbike accident that left him in critical condition.
The artiste, who had earlier been reported to be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, passed away on the evening of Monday, October 6, 2025.
In a heartbreaking video shared by family members on TikTok, Shalkido’s cousin confirmed his death while standing beside his father, saying they had just received news from doctors that the singer had succumbed to his injuries.

He said it was a sad evening for the family, urging fans and friends to stand with them as they mourn their loss.

“Hello, guys, it is a sad evening. We are here with Shalkido’s father, and we have just received a report from the doctor that Shalkido died at 6:30, just a few minutes ago. So, guys, let us come together and stand with this family. Everything will be okay,” the cousin said while speaking in the video alongside Shalkido’s father.
The news was also confirmed by Shalkido’s sister, who said that the doctor had called the family to deliver the heartbreaking update.
Speaking to Oga Obinna’s personal assistant, who was among those who had visited the artiste in the hospital, the sister confirmed that his body had since been moved to the morgue.
“Yes, the doctor has confirmed to us that he is gone. He has died, and his body has been moved from the hospital to the morgue,” she said.
