Migori: Man kills his father over a ksh 200,000 loan

Police have launched a manhunt for Geoffrey Agunga, 37, who is accused of killing his father, Agunga Riwa, in Nyangau village in Rongo Sub-County, Migori County, .

The tragic event has raised questions about the reason behind the attack. Some family members believe it might be linked to a loan of Ksh.200,000 that Geoffrey had given his sister while he was working in Qatar.

For weeks, he reportedly argued with his parents, demanding repayment after his sister failed to return the money.

According to Jason Ouma, Geoffrey’s brother, the suspect was frustrated after unsuccessful attempts to recover the funds.

Ouma said Geoffrey confronted his mother first, and then his father, who had just arrived home.

At the same time, eyewitness Maurice Otieno describes how things quickly turned violent.

“Geoffrey spoke to his father briefly, then suddenly attacked him with a panga, striking his forehead, face, shoulder, and arm,” Otieno stated.

The victim was rushed to Rongo Sub-County Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the medical facility.

Rongo Sub-County Police Commander Salim Fundi confirmed that investigations are ongoing and police are searching for Geoffrey, who fled the scene after the attack.
