The artiste has been trending for the better part of the past week, following the release of his controversial song Seti, which sparked mixed reactions online. The song hit 1 million views on YouTube just two days after its release, drawing both praise and criticism over its bold lyrics and explicit content.

In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, October 4, 2025, the EMB Records founder appeared excited as he celebrated the milestone, calling it a historic achievement for the Kenyan music industry.

“Watoto wadogo nimewakalisha chini tumeandika history Guinness Book of Records. Wanafaa kuwa wananitafuta!” Bahati said proudly.

He claimed that Seti is the first Kenyan music video to reach one million views in a single day, saying it proves his unmatched influence in the local music scene.

“This is the first video in Kenya to hit one million views in a day,” he said. “I know we are now on the second day, but in that short time, Seti has made history.”

Despite the backlash, Bahati appeared unbothered, even acknowledging that Seti had broken another record as “the most disliked song in Kenya.”

“This is the most disliked song in Kenya, hiyo record nimekubaliana nayo,” he admitted.

Adding;

Wamepeana dislikes 17,000 na likes 17,000, inamaanisha kuna watu wana-dislike lakini chini ya maji wanaiwatch.”

The singer confidently insisted that the criticism only shows people are paying attention to his work. He added that more records were forthcoming.

Kama before hii wiki iishe, tutakua tumevunja recordi mingi. The king is back. The GOAT is back!” Bahati declared.

Shalkido’s death

Bahati has also been trending following the unfortunate death of  Gengetone artiste Kevin Mburu Kinyanju, popularly known as Shalkido. The musician came under heavy scrutiny after sharing his last moments with the former Sailors Gang member, with many accusing him of ignoring Shalkido’s request for a music collaboration.

Online outrage erupted after Bahati, on the night of Monday, October 6, 2025, took to social media to mourn the late Shalkido and revealed that they had recently discussed working on a collaboration. The singer said it pained him that they never got the chance to record together.

“You had just talked to my management on our collabo na mkapanga tuingie studio this coming week. Rest well, young king. Tutaonana baadaye,” Bahati wrote.

He also posted a screenshot of a message from Shalkido on Instagram, in which the late musician politely reached out to him about a possible joint project.

“Vipii bro, hope you’re doing well? Just said I reach to you, I’m really humbled kuomba collabo kwa D and Bossy Bahati,” Shalkido’s message read.

However, Bahati’s tribute sparked backlash, with many social media users accusing him of exploiting Shalkido’s death for publicity.
