ICT CS Owalo, MCK CEO mourn The Star journalist Dickens Wasonga

Information and Communication Technology Cabinet Secretary has mourned the Star Newspaper reporter Dickens Wasonga who died following a tragic accident on the Kisumu-Kakamega road on Friday.
Owalo said he was deeply saddened to learn the untimely passing of Wasonga, the chairperson of the Kisumu Journalists Association (KJN) in a car accident in Kisumu.
"I had communicated with Wasonga just last night at 7:30 pm he said. He was the Kisumu Journalists Network chairperson having be elected last year.
Owalo described Wasonga as a dedicated team player, who demonstrated exceptional integrity and professionalism in his work.
"My heartfelt condolences go out his family, friends and the entire journalism fraternity mourning the loss of Wasonga ," he said.
Owalo, who visited and viewed the body of the deceased at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital private morgue wing, termed the passing on of Wasonga a big loss of the media fraternity.
The CS urged media fraternity and friend to stand with the family as they prepare to give Wasonga a befitting send-off.
Media Council of Kenya Chief Executive Officer also sent a message of condolences to the family.
He described Wasonga as a straightforward and dedicated journalist who undertook his work diligently.
Kisumu City manager Abala Wangapi said he was saddened by the death of Wasonga who was his personal friend.
He was always a committed and dedicated journalist. "We have been close friends and even spoke last night with him," Abala said.
The CM sent messages of condolences to the family and journalists across the country.
"He was one of the best writers in the region," Abala added.
