A 23-year-old TikTok content creator, Cecilia Achieng, has died following a road accident that occurred on Friday night along the Ruiru flyover.

Cecilia, a recent university graduate, was reportedly involved in the crash about an hour after alighting from an online cab.

According to the taxi driver, identified as Patrick, he had received a ride request from a client named Ronald to pick up two women Cecelia and her friend Sally and drop one of them off in Juja.

The driver said the two appeared intoxicated when they arrived for the trip.

Payment Dispute Before Departure

Patrick told police that before starting the journey, he asked the two women to pay first since they seemed unsteady.

They attempted to make payment through M-Pesa but were unsuccessful after repeatedly entering the wrong PIN.

The driver then contacted Ronald, who confirmed the booking and agreed to pay for Cecelia’s trip. After receiving payment, Patrick began the ride toward Juja.

 

A few kilometres into the journey, Cecelia reportedly began behaving erratically. By the time they reached the Ruiru flyover, her condition had worsened, prompting the driver to stop to avoid an accident.

The driver said he called Ronald to explain the situation, but Ronald advised that Cecelia was an adult who understood what she was doing since she refused to talk to her friends.

Patrick then ended the trip and left the location.

 

An hour later, reports emerged that Cecelia had been involved in a road accident. Her brother confirmed the incident at Ruiru Police Station after visiting the scene, where a boda boda rider who witnessed the crash identified the victim.

Cecelia’s family said they were devastated by the loss, describing her as a hardworking kind generous and loving young woman who had just completed her studies and was beginning her life.
