Socialite Amber Ray has wittily reacted via social media to comments made by her husband, Kennedy Rapudo, 8 months ago.
Rapudo had previously gone viral after claiming in an interview that his wife does not contribute to the household by purchasing basic necessities, notably stating that she "does not even buy salt".
Amber Ray posted a video to her Instagram account, including a caption that served as her reaction to Rapudo’s remarks.
Background on the Partner’s Claim
Rapudo’s controversial comments were originally made during an appearance on Dr. Ofweneke’s Lessons at 30 podcast. Rapudo’s statement was widely discussed online.
In the interview, Rapudo was asked about the stability of his relationship. He asserted that he maintained strong confidence, stating that he was not worried about losing his wife.
He acknowledged that he would be hurt because he loves her, but confirmed it would not be "the end of the world".
The Man’s Duty
During the discussion, Rapudo offered details about his significant financial duties within the household. He stressed that he handles all the family’s expenses, including paying rent, tuition, and full monthly shopping.
Rapudo detailed his high cost of living, noting that the schooling for their four children, including Africana, requires substantial annual fees. All the children are enrolled in British system schools.
Rapudo stated that his wife not purchasing items like salt is not due to her inability to afford them. Instead, he views it as his responsibility to manage all the bills.
“It is my duty to pay for those bills.”
He also referenced Amber Ray’s history of dating, noting her public statements about being "allergic to broke men". He questioned why he would choose to become the first "broke man that she's keeping".
The Instagram Response
Months after the comments gained traction, Amber Ray shared her response online. She used her Instagram platform to share a video accompanied by a caption addressing her husband's specific claim about the missing salt.

“Ukiniangalia hata huwezi sema hata chumvi siwezi nunua,” she captioned her Instagram story video.
Some observers interpreted Rapudo’s initial "does not even buy salt" remark as being figurative.
