Stand-up comedian Oliver Otieno, known as YY, and his new girlfriend Noella have become the talk of the town since he introduced her shortly after his split from ex Marya Okoth.

The relationship has sparked mixed reactions, especially after YY addressed why he appeared to move on quickly.

Marya announced their breakup in September, and YY introduced Noella about a month later, leading to a lively debate. Speaking to Milele FM’s Ankali Ray, YY shared his perspective on the timing of his new relationship.

Noella recently opened up about facing targeted online criticism, noting that the intensity of the bullying had reached a peak. In a video posted on the Kenya Gossip Instagram page, she called the experience “unfortunate,” adding, “I didn’t know I could handle the negativity this well. I’m just at peace.”

Reiterating her stance, she said, “Funny enough, hakuna kitu inanipea stress. I mean, most of it…I didn’t know I could handle it.” She added, “None of it has affected me, so imagine I’m just at peace, funny enough.”

YY and Noella recently visited her parents' rural home, where he sought their blessings. Many Kenyans commented on the pace of his new relationship, with some saying it felt rushed, while others expressed understanding of his desire to build a stable partnership.

Expressing gratitude, YY wrote, "God, thank you for the honor of meeting her parents… I can't do it without you. Help me give my all."

Noella also joined YY at his grandfather’s funeral on October 20, and they made a public appearance together at Eric Omondi’s comedy show a few days later.
