Multi-award winning Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade is opening up on the pressure she has endured to get married noting how some people rush into it especially during festive seasons.
Yemi got candid about her love life and talks surrounding marriage during an interview she had with BBNaija star, Tacha on Cool FM.
The 'Bum Bum' hitmaker advised young girls to learn to chill and not rush things as at the end of it all it is better to marry late and marry right than have regrets later.
She maintained that personally she didn't dwell on such things, pressuring herself with a timeline and all as when it is the right time, things will happen on their own.
“People get married every year, especially towards the end of the year it gets even crazier.
Now that people are even doing TikTok while they’re giving birth, it’s a lot of content. I’m under no pressure, nobody should. When it’s time, it’s time,” the 34 year old songstress candidly said.
She went on to highlight that she understands that sometimes it can be really difficult when the pressure to get married comes from ones family because they are the ones people mostly look up to and spend most time with.
On that note she reminded people that if their family members have their best interests at heart, they would understand that it’s more important to have the right partner than to marry early.
“Family pressure is a difficult pressure to shake off because it’s the people you respect and look up to that are insisting you get married but I believe if they have your best interest at heart, they would wait with you because it’s more important to have the right partner than to just get married.
But besides Nigerian that, I don’t think anyone should be in a rush to make a wrong decision and be with the wrong partner,” the artist candidly said.
Making the moment a little bit lighter the songstress went on to note that the economic state of things is another reason why people should chill and not hurry up ties.
“Have you seen the economy? Calm down.” Yemi said amidst laughter.
