The Kenya School of Law (KSL) has temporarily suspended applications for admission to the Advocates Training Programme (ATP) for the 2027/2028 academic year.
In a notice on Thursday, October 15, the school explained that the decision followed the issuance of interim court orders concerning the advertised ATP intake.
"The Kenya School of Law hereby informs all prospective applicants and other stakeholders that, following the issuance of interim orders by the High Court in relation to the advertised ATP intake, the receipt of applications for admission to the ATP Class of 2027/2028 academic year has been temporarily suspended pending further directions from the Court and the determination of the matter," the notice read.
The institution stated that it would continue updating prospective applicants and other stakeholders as the court proceedings progress, expressing hope that the cases would be resolved promptly.
"The School remains committed to keeping prospective applicants and other stakeholders informed of any developments and hopes for a quick resolution of the court cases," the notice added.
KSL also urged affected parties to remain patient as they await further communication regarding the admission process.
"Further updates will be communicated through the School’s official communication channels as appropriate. We regret any inconvenience this suspension may cause and appreciate the patience, understanding and cooperation of all affected parties," the notice further read.
This comes a week after Kibabii University suspended teaching and learning activities for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year following student unrest at the institution.
In a statement, the university announced that the decision was reached by the Senate during a special meeting held on Tuesday, October 6, with the suspension taking effect immediately.

"The University Senate in its Special Meeting held today, Tuesday, 6th October 2026, resolved to suspend the 1st Semester 2026/2027 Academic Year activities following the student unrest with immediate effect," the statement read.
Following the decision, the university directed all students to vacate the institution's premises immediately, with the deadline set for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Students living in the university's hostels were also directed to leave the accommodation facilities by the same deadline as the institution implemented the suspension.
The university further advised students who reside in the neighbourhood of the institution to make alternative accommodation arrangements until teaching and learning activities resume.
