Ulinzi Starlets Win the FKF Cup

Ulinzi Starlets successfully defended the FKF Women Cup after defeating Nakuru City Queens 3-1 in Sunday's final at Nyayo National Stadium.

Mercy Airo emerged as the match's hero, scoring twice in the 10th and 14th minutes as Neddy Atieno scored the third goal.

Ulinzi's consolation goal came from substitute Merceline Wafula.

 In an interview with a major media house, Joseph Wambua Mwanza, the head coach of Ulinzi, praised his team for their determination and dedicated their victory to their former chairman, Lieutenant Col. Maina.

The head coach expressed his gratitude to the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) for their unwavering support throughout the season. Wambua credited Mercy Airo for her crucial contribution of two goals in the final, which played a significant role in their successful defense of the title.

Wambua acknowledged Lieutenant Colonel Maina's support as the reason behind their continued success in women's football.

Looking ahead, the coach expressed his anticipation for a bigger and better season to come. He emphasized the need to strengthen their squad in order to maintain high standards and acknowledged the necessity for increased effort and hard work.

In the Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL), Ulinzi finished in third place, with Vihiga Queens emerging as the champions and Gaspo settling for second position.
