Ugandan dancehall sensation Hoozambe, who went viral in 2024 with hits like ‘Shifura’, has hinted that he may be working on a collaboration with Kenyan Arbantone singer VJ Patelo.

Hoozambe, whose real name is D-Star, shared a video on TikTok on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, showing the two artistes together in a recording studio, fuelling speculation that a joint music project may be in the works.

In the clip, VJ Patelo is seen at the microphone singing alongside Hoozambe as members of their respective teams cheer them on from the background.

The studio setting appeared lively and creative, with graffiti-covered walls and glowing neon lights adding to the atmosphere.

VJ Patelo was shirtless and clad in his signature chains while holding a tablet from which he appeared to be reading lyrics.

Several other individuals could be seen watching closely as the session unfolded, suggesting an active recording or rehearsal moment.

In a separate video also shared by Hoozambe, VJ Patelo was spotted in Nairobi alongside other members of the Wakudumu crew and Mbogi Genje.

The group appeared to be outdoors at a location that resembled a music video shoot. In the footage, VJ Patelo stood next to Hoozambe, who was holding a 3D-designed T-shirt, as other Mbogi Genje members struck poses around them, further intensifying speculation of a cross-border collaboration.

Hoozambe rose to fame in mid-2024 after the viral success of his song Hoozambe, a track that gained massive traction across East Africa and beyond.

The song, featuring Shifura, sparked a widespread social media trend, with fans drawn to its catchy sound and the chemistry between the artistes.

The term “Hoozambe” loosely translates to “my sweetheart” in some Kenyan dialects, adding to its broad appeal across the region.

The development comes just weeks after Patelo refuted claims that he is working on a collaboration with Kevin Bahati’s wife, Diana Marua.

Speaking when YouTuber 2mbili visited his Utawala mansion on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the ‘Wakudumu’ hitmaker explained that the speculations emerged without his knowledge, and insisted that he has not made any commitments regarding a partnership with the singer.

“No, there is nothing like that. If something like that exists, I do not know about it. I do not know if people are planning for me to have a collaboration, but they should tell me because I have not planned anything,” he said.

While he acknowledged that collaborations are possible, Patelo emphasised that they must align with multiple factors, including the artiste’s professionalism, creative vision, and ability to meet the demands of a successful project.

He made it clear that he would consider working with Diana only if she demonstrates that she is serious and capable of delivering the standards he expects.

“About whether I can collaborate with her, it depends on many things. We can do a collaboration, but you know I do not take things lightly. I do not just do things the way people want. However, if she is serious and proves that she is ready and capable, then we can work on a song together,” Patelo added.
