Uasin Gishu County Assembly is set to vet Deputy Governor nominee Evans Kapkea on Tuesday, initiating the process to fill the position left vacant after Eng. John Barorot’s exit in August.
Kapkea, 34, has served as a Member of the County Assembly representing Tembelio Ward, and upon successful vetting, will become the third deputy governor of Uasin Gishu County.
Eng. John Barorot, who served as deputy governor for two years resigned on August 21, 2024. He left office to take up a new role as Chief Executive Officer at an international ICT firm.
Uasin Gishu MCAs led by Kiplombe ward representative Gilbert Lagat have vowed to approve Kapkea, noting that they have worked with him and has what it takes to deputise Governor Jonathan Bii.
Kapkea served as the Chairperson of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly’s Trade, Industrialization, Tourism and Investment Committee, and a member of the Budget, Finance and Appropriations Committee, Health Committee and Delegated Legislation.
