Uasin Gishu: Boda boda rider murders his Form 2 lover in Eldoret

Police in Uasin Gishu County are investigating an incident where a local bodaboda rider reportedly killed his girlfriend, a form two student.

It is reported that the 25-year-old bodaboda rider surrendered to the police on Friday, March 7 and confessed to murdering the 19-year-old student, an incident that occurred at Gem Farm area, within Moiben Constituency.

The county police commander, Benjamin Mwanthi, says the suspect picked up the girl from RCEA Temebelio Secondary Schiool, a mixed secondary school in the area.

He then reportedly took her to a lodging within Gem Farm area, spending some time together. “The suspect later called the local chief and informed him that he had killed his girlfriend,” says Mwanthi.

After informing the chief about the murder, the bodaboda rider walked to a nearby police station and reported the matter.

The chief, accompanied by the police, rushed to the scene, and indeed they found a body of the student covered in blanket, with signs showing that she might have been strangled to death.

While the motive behind the murder is still not known, the police boss says they arrested the suspect to help with investigations.

The incident has sparked a public outrage in the area, with residents calling for justice for the family of the deceased.
