In recent months, comedian David Oyando aka Mulamwa and his ex-girlfriend, Carrol Sonnie, have been in the spotlight due to their public disputes and revelations about their co-parenting journey.
Their relationship has garnered attention for its ups and downs since their romantic relationship ended in 2022.
Mulamwa, whose real name is David Oyando, and Carrol Sonnie share a daughter together.
While their romantic relationship may have ended, their journey as co-parents should continue, with its fair share of challenges.
However, the public nature of their relationship has brought their disagreements and conflicts into the limelight, with both parties taking to social media to air their grievances.
From accusations of neglect to disputes over child support, Mulamwa and Carrol Sonnie’s public exchanges have sparked debates and discussions among their followers and the wider public.
On February, 6 Mulamwah shared court document that he had sued his baby mama for denying him access to his child among other things.
Mulamwah and Sonnie should know about the impact of social media attacks on children
Social media has become an integral part of our lives, creating a platform for communication, expression, and connection.
However, when used irresponsibly, it can also become a battleground for toxic behavior, especially among parents who have separated or divorced.
These parents often engage in public attacks against each other, airing their grievances and conflicts for all to see.
This phenomenon, known as “toxic parenting,” can have severe repercussions, particularly for the children caught in the crossfire.
When parents resort to airing their grievances on social media, they expose their children to a toxic environment filled with hostility, negativity, and conflict.
Although some could be young, they will grow to witness their parents’ public attacks and these can be deeply distressing and emotionally damaging for children.
These children may feel torn between their loyalty to both parents, struggling to navigate the complexities of their parents’ relationship breakdown.
Furthermore, children may internalize the negativity they see on social media, blaming themselves for their parents’ conflicts and feeling responsible for their parents’ unhappiness.
This can lead to feelings of guilt, low self-esteem, and emotional distress, impacting their overall well-being and mental health.
Moreover, exposure to toxic parenting behavior on social media can also have long-term effects on children’s development and relationships.
It can erode their trust in their parents and undermine their ability to form healthy relationships in the future.
Children may struggle to establish boundaries, communicate effectively, and resolve conflicts constructively, as they have learned unhealthy patterns of behavior from their parents’ example.
In addition to the emotional toll, toxic parenting behavior on social media can also have practical consequences for children.
Public attacks and conflicts between parents can disrupt co-parenting arrangements, making it challenging for children to maintain stable and consistent relationships with both parents.
It can also create legal complications and complicate custody arrangements, further adding to children’s stress and uncertainty.
It is therefore very important for parents to recognize the impact of their behavior on their children and prioritize their well-being above all else.
Instead of resorting to public attacks and airing their grievances on social media, parents should seek healthier outlets for communication and conflict resolution.
This may involve seeking professional support, such as therapy or counseling, to address underlying issues and develop effective co-parenting strategies.
