"The country is counting on you" Rachel Ruto tells the newly appointed cabinet secretaries

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto has congratulated the newly sworn in Cabinet Secretaries, telling them that Kenyans look up to them to deliver the Kenya Kwanza administration agenda.

In a statement shared online, Rachel said she hopes the new CSs will work in unity to push the Bottom-Up Economic Agenda of President William Ruto's government.

"We believe in your ability to serve the nation, working with unity of purpose to deliver the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). May you serve with courage, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the well-being of the Kenyan people. The country is counting on you," she posted on her X platform.

Among the newly appointed CSs are opposition members Hassan Joho (Mining and Blue Economy), John Mbadi (Treasury), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Co-operatives).

The opposition leaders were brought into government in what President Ruto termed a broad-based collaboration that brings all parties together.

This was after Kenyans took to the streets to protest the Kenya Kwaza administration’s policies, among them the now withdrawn Finance Bill 2024.

Ruto was also forced to dismiss his entire Cabinet save for Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, but he has since re-appointed and re-assigned some of his former ministers.

The new CSs were sworn in on Thursday at State House in the presence of the Head of State, who warned that he will cut ties with anyone who goes against the will of Kenyans.

The President also asked Kenyans to give his new team time to work for them.
