Siaya: A 25-year-old murder suspect nursing injuries after being beaten by a mob
A 25-year-old man is being treated at Ahero Sub-County Hospital while under police custody for allegedly hacking to death a 21-year-old man in Kore Village, Ombeyi area of Muhoroni Sub-County.
The suspect, Rodgers Otieno, was reportedly beaten nearly to death by members of the public after attacking the victim with a machete under mysterious circumstances.
According to a police report Otieno inflicted severe cuts on the victim's thighs, causing him to bleed out.
The victim was rushed to Ahero Sub-County Hospital for treatment, but he died from his injuries due to excessive bleeding.
In response, enraged locals attacked Otieno with crude weapons before being rescued by the area chief and transported to the hospital.
The suspect is now under police surveillance as investigators look into the motive behind the killing.
