Shiro Wa GP Narrates Betty Bayo's Final Moments

Award-winning Kikuyu gospel artiste Shiru wa GP has shared a detailed account of the night when gospel singer Betty Bayo’s health suddenly worsened.

Shiru, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, during a friends and family gathering, said she was helping around the house when Betty began bleeding heavily, creating panic for everyone present.

She described the moments as terrifying, noting how quickly the situation escalated and how she tried to keep control while ensuring Betty’s dignity was preserved.

Shiru explained that she had warmed water and took it upstairs to wake Betty’s house helper. She checked on the children and confirmed they were asleep in their bedrooms.

“Nikawarm maji, nikampelekea upstairs nikaamsha msichana wake wa kazi. Nikaangalia watoto wako bedroom wote wamelala. Nikateremka nikaambia msichana, ukae hapa kwa kiti ndio mum akiitana, uamke umpatie maji, nitakuja asubuhi at 6,” she recalled.

After making sure everything was in order, Shiru left the house to go back to her own home, leaving instructions for the house helper not to sleep but to stay awake downstairs in case Betty needed anything.

Shiru said the situation became critical when Betty started bleeding heavily while she was away.

“Nikama tu wakati nililala Betty alianza bleeding, na ni kama alikua ana bleed kwa kichwa ndani, alikua na bleeding kabisa. So wakati aliamka kwa kitanda ni kama alisikia oxygen imeisha, akatoka kwa kitanda, bleeding ikaanza, akateremka kwa stairs,” she said.

She explained that the house helper immediately realised the severity of the bleeding, searched for the car keys, and began honking to call for help.

Shiru described Betty as a fighter who would not have given up quietly.

“Betty was a fighter, hangekufa akiwa amenyamaza. Akapiga honi, security na neighbours wakakuja na ule neighbour wake akamchukua akampeleka AAR,” she said.

She also noted that throughout the ordeal, she wanted to protect Betty’s privacy and dignity.

“Nilikua nataka kufight kila mtu, usimpige picha, kwa sababu alikua anataka ajiheshimu hadi wakati wake wa mwisho. Alikua ananiamia nisiwache mtu ampige picha,” Shiru added.

The account gives a rare insight into the chaos and urgency during Betty Bayo’s final moments. Shiru wa GP’s narration highlights the courage and quick thinking of those around her and the care they took to respect her wishes, even as the situation turned life-threatening.
