Senator Edwin Sifuna Mourns The Death Of His Uncle Roy Bulinya

The family of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has been thrown into mourning following the death of their relative, Roy Bulinya Sifuna.

In a statement shared on his official social media channels on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Sifuna revealed that the family had gathered at St Francis Catholic Church in Kasarani for a memorial mass in honour of the late Bulinya.

Sifuna further disclosed that the deceased was his uncle, whom he described as a brilliant engineer known for his politeness, patience and kindness, qualities he noted are rare even within their own family.

He added that the loss has deeply affected the Sifuna family, who have faced several tragedies in recent years.

“The Sifuna Family is in mourning yet again. We lost Uncle Roy Bulinya Sifuna. We gathered at St. Francis Catholic Church, Kasarani, for mass in his memory. Uncle Bulinya was eulogised as a brilliant engineer who was always polite, patient and kind. Very few of us in the family can be described in those terms,” Sifuna wrote.

According to Sifuna, the family will lay Roy Bulinya to rest on Saturday, November 22, 2025, in Siaka village, Kanduyi, Bungoma County.

“We shall lay him to rest this Saturday in Siaka village, Kanduyi, Bungoma County. May his soul rest in peace,” he revealed.

On December 3, 2023, the senator lost his uncle, who was the former Bungoma South (presently Kanduyi and Bumula) Member of Parliament (MP) Lawrence Sifuna.

Sifuna was first elected to parliament in 1979 and was re-elected in 1983 before losing the seat to former North Eastern Provincial Commissioner Maurice Makhanu in the 1988 General Election.

He died aged 77 while receiving treatment at an Eldoret hospital after suffering a stroke.

“Hon. Lawrence Sifuna, former MP Kanduyi and Bumula Constituencies left us last night whilst receiving treatment at an Eldoret Hospital following a stroke he suffered a few days ago. As a Family we are grateful for all the messages of love that we continue to receive. May God Bless you all,” Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who is Lawrence’s nephew, said.
