Sam West: Why You Should Help Struggling Celebrities

Videos shared last week of stand-up comedian Desagu elicited concern from Kenyans.
It was stated that Desagu has been battling depression and alleged alcoholism. A financial appeal was lodged.
Not long after that, artist Stoopid Boy opened up about his battle with alcoholism and depression.
He revealed he’s ready for rehab. Cases of Kenyans and celebrities asking for financial help have been on the increase.
In an interview with Mpasho, Motivational speaker Sam West weighed in saying that if an artists has made an impact in your life, it is OK to help.
"It's the nature of humans to support. It's a good culture to help.

But it is good to know that people will only come through for you if you have invested in them.

If people benefit from you they will be quick to help.

They (celebs) should rethink how they can also help the people."

Sam further advised

"It's good to appreciate people who have impacted our lives.

Imagine if there was no entertainment, music or comedy where would you be finding the joy of laughing?

Let's help this people that have been a blessing to us.

They (artists) might not be able to support you financially but they will do so in other ways."

In an interview with Oga Obinna, Stoopid Boy shared his wife had left him after he allegedly went broke.

“My wife left with everything I owned and left me with the kids Pipi and Dior.

That’s why I always say I don’t have a woman anymore."

A depressed woman

The rapper revealed that one of his children is currently under his mother’s care, while the other stays with his ex-partner.

“Pipi was taken back to my home. He is with my family. Pipi is in first grade. As for Dior, I don’t know where his mother took him. I have no idea where he is,” he said.

Speaking on why his ex left him, Stoopid Boy said,

“She left me because of drugs, not necessarily because I was broke. I was using a lot of drugs, but I eventually stopped. I was getting them from a doctor just to calm myself down.”

It’s like my baby mama loved me when I had money, but when I became broke, she left. At that time, I wasn’t even singing. I was selling steam and scrap metal, and I had my own business. Then my cart and everything got stolen, and I was told to fend for myself,” he added.

Other celebrities who have openly asked for help include former Citizen TV Journalist Kimani Mbugua who is currently in rehab.
