President William Ruto on Sunday asserted his commitment to apply scrutiny in his search for a new cabinet days after dismissing his Cabinet Secretaries.
Speaking during a church service in Nyandarua County on Sunday, Ruto noted that he will not compromise on competence as he seeks to appoint a new team that will sit in his fragile Executive arm.
He added that he must have a skilled team at the top that will help him implement the ambitious promises he made to Kenyans
"Pray for me that I get employees who will help me to actualize the promises I gave you. You want me to build a new government that will unite the entire nation?" he posed to the crowd.
"I will plan slowly I see who will help me. Hasn't it been said that some of them were from Nyeri, others Kiambu, Murang'a. Is there any problem if one of them comes from Eldoret?"
Ruto sent home the Attorney General and all his 21 Cabinet Secretaries apart from Prime Cabinet CS Musalia Mudavadi on July 11.
President Ruto said he had resolved to dissolve his Cabinet "upon reflection, listening keenly to what the people of Kenya have said and after a holistic appraisal of the performance of the cabinet and its achievements and challenges."
Kenyans online have however called out the president for sparing the Prime CS who holds an unconstitutional office.
As pressure mounts on Ruto as he searches for a new team, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has advised him to avoid appointing CSs with pride as it was with the ousted team.
Speaking in Elgeyo Marakwet on Saturday, Gachagua noted that the new CSs should place Kenyans’ interest first to uplift the country’s economy.
Further, he explained that they should avoid engaging in politics and focus on aiding the president in achieving his campaign promises.
