Pope Francis has appointed Fr Wallace Ng’ang’a and Fr Simon Peter Kamomoe as auxiliary bishops of the Archdiocese of Nairobi.

The announcement was made by Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan Archbishop Hubertus Van Megen during mass at the Holy Family Minor Basilica yesterday.

Ng’ang’a, the archdiocesan pastoral coordinator, previously served as the Father in Charge of Christ the King Parish, Embakasi, and is serving at Queen of Apostles Parish, Ruaraka while Kamomoe is the Holy Family Minor Basilica administrator.

Kamomoe attended St Mary’s Major Seminary in Molo, studied Philosophy at St Augustine’s Senior Seminary in Mabanga and Theology at St Matthias Mulumba Senior Seminary in Tindinyo.

He was ordained a priest on June 18, 1994 for the Archdiocese of Nairobi.

Since 2008, he has been administrator of the Holy Family Cathedral Basilica of Nairobi and Chaplain of the Diocesan Office for family pastoral care.

Ng’ang’a also went to St Mary’s Major Seminary in Molo after which he studied Philosophy at St Augustine’s Senior Seminary in Mabanga and Theology at St Matthias Mulumba Senior Seminary in Tindinyo.

He was ordained a priest on May 21, 2005, incardinating in the Archdiocese of Nairobi.

He has held the following positions including Assistant at St Peter and Paul in Kiambu (2005-2006), parish priest of St Peter and Paul in Kiambu (2006-2009), student for the Master in Pastoral Theology at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa-CUEA (2009-2011) and also Assistant of the Regina Coeli Parish of Karen (2009-2015).

Since 2015, he has been parish priest of Christ the King in Embakasi and since 2011, Coordinator of Archdiocesan Pastoral Care.
