Police in Kiambu on Friday confiscated suspected counterfeit alcoholic drinks following a sting operation in the Governor Kimani Wa Matangi-led county.
Fake KRA stickers and over 1,000 bottles and bottle tops of different liquor brands were also recovered during the operation.
"Police seized several suspected counterfeit alcoholic brands, among them, 44 cartons of ‘Best ‘; 25 cartons of ‘Smart’, 69 cartons of ‘People’, 44 cartons of "Blue Ice" and 240 litres of spirit in jerricans,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement.
In a separate operation in Murang’a County, police likewise seized several cartons containing uncustomed cigarettes categorised as excisable goods.
NPS similarly urged members of the public to continue sharing information that will help police in future crackdowns.
