A few years ago Wanja Mwaura went viral after photos of her transforming her now-deceased classmate Patrick Hinga who was battling drug addiction emerged.
Patrick Hinga (now deceased) was living on the streets before Wanja bumped into him.
In an interview with Jeff Kuria, Wanja revealed she was recently diagnosed with an AutoImmune Disease.
'One evening I took my child to the hospital and on reaching home I could feel my legs being a little numb.
I assumed it was because we came home late from the hospital and it was cold.
The next morning I woke up and I couldn't feel my legs.
I called my partner who in turn called our doctor."
Wanja underwent a series of tests among them an MRI.
'The MRI showed I had no issue.
The radiographer in charge out of curiosity asked me to look at my head.

"My body is fighting itself.

She further explained
"The doctors told me it was not curable as the cause of any autoimmune disease is unknown, but the symptoms can be managed.
That is why I can't walk because the brain doesn't send a signal to my legs to move."
Wanja explained that she is hopeful she will walk again.
" By God's grace, I can walk again because it has not affected my spine.
There is a high possibility I will walk again."
She is currently seeking financial help to travel to Israel and seek treatment.
The treatment is to help her walk again because the autoimmune disease is not curable.
She is seeking Sh 2.5 million., she has so far raised 1.6 million.
