Pauline arrested for being in possession of narcotics

Jubilee Party Deputy Organising Secretary Pauline Njoroge was arrested on Saturday, July 22, 2023, police have confirmed.

Njoroge, a strong critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration was arrested by officers drawn from the anti-narcotics drug unit in Watamu, Kilifi county.

The digital strategist who is being held at Watamu police station is alleged to have been arrested while in possession of Narcotics which are believed to have been recovered inside her hotel room and a vehicle that was ferrying her and three other occupants.

According to a police report officers from the DCI had been trailing Njoroge and intercepted the motor vehicle reg number KCV 116 T a Toyota Hiace where they recovered four rolls of dry plants material suspected to be narcotic drugs.

The driver of the vehicle identified as Emanze Jilani was also arrested.

"A further search was conducted at their residence at Mawe Zuri resort house number Tatu which was occupied by Jane Mwangi and a clear container containing ten(10) tablets suspected to be narcotic substances was recovered and in house number Nne which was occupied by Njoroge, a clear container containing 50(fifty) tablets suspected to be narcotic substances was also recovered," the police report reads in parts.

"All suspects were booked and placed in custody to be charged with the offence of being in possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. A motor vehicle registration number KCV 116T was also detained," the police report added.

It has further emerged that Njoroge had arrived in Watamu on Friday alongside her friend for a vacation. 

The drugs alleged to have been recovered from the suspects have been handed over to the anti-narcotics police officers to undergo tests to ascertain the type of drugs and the amount recovered from the suspects.

According to police sources, the suspects have declined to record statements with the police and have sought legal representation.

"The suspects are not cooperating with police, they have argued that they have been framed on the charges and will only record their statements once their lawyers are allowed to see them," an officer privy to the ongoing investigations stated.
