Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) has revealed that Otile Brown was one of the highest earners in the society's latest distribution of royalties to artistes.

According to MCSK Chairman Lazarus Muli, Otile Brown received a substantial sum of Ksh120,000 in the payout.

In an interview with SPM Buzz, Muli explained that the payouts were determined by the hard work and input of each artiste.

"Otile Brown got, I think, over Ksh120,000. Some got Ksh100,000, Ksh50,000, Ksh60,000, and some got Ksh10,000," Muli stated.

"The reason why the pay cannot be equal is everyone's work is different, and [you] are paid according to your effort. Hatuwezi watoshanisha," he explained. 

This comes weeks after Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) CEO Ezekiel Mutua announced that the government will be disbursing a Ksh20 million payout to 16,000 Kenyan musicians. 

Mutua noted that the government through MCSK, will be paying out Ksh1,250 in royalties to each artiste.
