Nairobi Businesses count losses amid ‘Nane Nane’ protests

Nairobi businesses are counting losses as anti-government demos pushing for good governance and calls for the resignation of President William Ruto start.
A spot-check by Capital Business in the Central Business District (CBD) showed that a majority of businesses were closed with streets deserted on fears of the protest being infiltrated by goons as well as turning deadly.
Previous demos against the 2024 Finance Bill, which was later dropped, turned ugly, with shops looted, causing businesses millions of shillings in losses.
Over the weekend, President Ruto, who was speaking in Embu County, warned conveners of the protests against engaging in violent activities.
