Tanzanian online personality and influencer Mwijaku has criticised Diamond Platnumz over his decision to publicly read Bible verses and collaborate with gospel singer Joel Lwaga, arguing that the Bongo Flava star made a big mistake by taking part in the project.

Speaking to YouTubers on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, Mwijaku questioned Diamond’s decision to read passages from the Bible at Lwaga’s event despite being a Muslim.

He questioned why Diamond chose to publicly read the Bible when, in his view, he has not been seen doing the same with the Quran.

The influencer went as far as offering Tsh5 million to anyone who could produce a video showing Diamond publicly reading or preaching from the Quran.

“I know he read the Bible verses for an intention because tell me why we have never seen him read the Quran publicly as he did. He has never done it, and I will give Tsh5 million to anyone who will bring out a video of him talking or preaching from the Quran,” Mwijaku said.

Mwijaku further argued that Diamond’s decision to read the biblical passages was inappropriate and accused the singer of hypocrisy.

He said Diamond’s actions raised questions about the intention behind publicly reading the Bible, particularly because of his Muslim faith.

“And what he did to read the Bible verses is very wrong. And that means he is a hypocrite,” he said.

Mwijaku then outlined what he described as three major warning signs of a hypocritical person, arguing that such a person lies when speaking and can be persuaded into saying or doing things they would ordinarily avoid.

“A hypocritical person has three main red flags. When he talks, he always lies. It is like he was convinced to do so. And me too, with convincing me to do such a thing, I would read those Bible verses,” he said.

The online personality also weighed in on the growing debate surrounding Diamond and Lwaga’s gospel collaboration, which has attracted criticism from some gospel artistes and sparked discussion among their fans.

Diamond and Lwaga released their prayer-themed song ‘Nikumbuke’ on Wednesday, September 23, bringing together the Bongo Flava star and the gospel singer in a collaboration that has generated debate within Tanzania’s gospel music scene.

Mwijaku argued that artistes such as Upendo Nkone were justified in questioning the collaboration, saying he believed gospel artistes would have faced a different reaction if they had sought a similar partnership with Lwaga.

He further claimed that Diamond’s involvement could be viewed as diminishing the concerns raised by gospel artistes who have criticised the collaboration.

“And artistes like Upendo Nkone who have criticised Diamond’s collabo with Lwaga are very correct because if they were the ones who wanted to collabo with Lwaga, he would have first hesitated. And now it is like he is demeaning them by proceeding to collaborate with Diamond,” he said.

Mwijaku also rejected the argument that Diamond’s involvement in the song should simply be viewed as an act of supporting Lwaga.

He maintained that supporting another artiste and participating in a religious project were two different matters that should not be conflated.

“And to also clarify, stop saying Diamond did a good thing because it was also a way of supporting Lwaga. No, to help is different and you should never mix that with religious stuff,” he said.

Mwijaku’s comments came after Diamond’s appearance at Lwaga’s birthday event, where the Bongo Flava star not only celebrated the gospel singer but also publicly read and explained biblical passages.

While addressing those gathered at the event, Diamond opened the Bible and read Luke 5:31-32 before also referring to an account in Matthew.

“Luke 5:31-32, Jesus said, ‘Those who are healthy do not need a doctor, but those who are sick do,’” Diamond said.

He went on to explain the message behind the scripture, questioning the purpose of taking a doctor to people who were already healthy instead of those who needed medical attention.

“And what that means is, if you take a doctor to people who are healthy, what help does that offer?” he said.
